What a hectic time... -- Bill Vosti
Hey guys,
The last couple weeks have been pretty crazy.
I’ve moved out of my apartment in Los
Angeles, and am currently at my Mom’s house until I leave for Australia on
March 1st for three months.
The release of the book went very well.
There’s been some very positive feedback from
the early readers and I couldn’t be more happy about it.
Regardless of how many times my friends and
family told me how good the book was, I was still very anxious to see how the
actual customers would like it, and so far I think many of them are getting a
lot out of the book.
I’m happy my approach to the book worked; I wanted to write
down every fundamental concept I felt was needed to beat the NLHE 6-max games,
and present it in a matter-of-fact conversational tone that even my Mom could
understand.
I really felt when writing
that if someone understood all these concepts, they’d be able to beat pretty
much any limit online.
And I think I
accomplished that.
It’s still tough though – people look at an e-book a little
skeptically and many aren’t willing to give it a try.
Also, Harrington is releasing two cash game
books these next couple weeks – they will be good for sure, but in no way can
educate someone more on how to beat the online games then my book.
No book really is aimed at online, and it’s a
very different game.
I think in the next few years you will see more and more
poker books/e-books from young players breeded online.
There are so many sick good online players
who are very intelligent and have such an amazing fundamental understanding of
the game since they have played millions of hands and studied the game
immensely with the software available to us.
Without books from the old live
pro’s like David Sklansky that presented these theoretical concepts, us young
online players wouldn’t be here.
However, I think many of us are mastering these concepts more than was
previously possible and a new understanding of correct poker will be coming.
I’ve had a fairly crazy month of poker as well.
I just
closed down my desktop and got on a new laptop, and since my old Poker Tracker
database was 2 gigs big, it got left in the dust.
No graphs of the month for you guys, but I
made about 14 to 15k in online cash in about 30k hands (with two -8k
swings.)
I dropped 2k at Commerce one
night, and was about -3 or 4k in tournaments, so an OK month considering all
the moving and book stuff I was doing.
I just need to stick with online
cash games.
They’ve treated me so much
better than any other form of poker.
By this time next week I’ll be by the beach in
Australia.
Me and three other poker
buddies are going to be moving to a beach town called Surfers Paradise for
three months to enjoy the sun, surf, aussie babes and the kangaroos with a
little bit of poker grinding mixed in.
Our original plan was to move to Sydney and really
experience the culture, but a serious rental crunch in any desirable location led
us to look at alternatives.
I’m even
happier going to Surfers because it is a sub-tropical region, with warm weather
and warm oceans even despite the fact we’re going from their fall to early
winter.
I will be surfing five days a week and partying a few days a
week.
It should be a lot of fun.
Obviously it will be tough to get as much poker time in as I’d
like – I still want to play 90k hands while I’m there.
We’ll see.
My goal for March is only 20k hands since it will be the warmest and we’ll
be fresh and not tired out from partying too much.
I know how much fun pictures in a blog can be so I will be
sure to get some up for you guys.
Living the hard knock life,
Bill Vosti
