It’s been awhile.
I’m
a bit lazy when it comes to blogging.
I’ve been in Australia for 5 weeks now.
It’s a cool, laid back country, with it’s own
little quirks and weird things but altogether isn’t a big departure from
American life.
Well, except for my
craving for a goddamn burrito – few and far between here.
Even if I did find a Mexican joint, it probably wouldn’t be
very good.
One thing that is pretty disappointing
about Australia is the food.
It’s just
very mediocre in every category – spices seem to be almost nonexistent down here.
I can say that I’ve had my worst hamburger
down here, my worst chicken ceaser salad, my worst chicken stir fry, etc etc.
It’s usually not terrible, just mediocre.
Sure, we Americans are all fat and obese
(these is the consensus down here,) but that’s probably because we do food
right.

I made a trip to a nearby wildlife sanctuary and it was
pretty cool.
Koalas have to be the
cutest thing ever – they’re basically living stuffed animals.
We’re working on a plan to kidnap one and
bring it back to the States as a pet.

Kangaroos are interesting as well.
Just never seen anything like it – like some
big rabbit and deer combination.
We
managed to walk upon a male kangaroo and a female kangaroo as they got down and
dirty with each other.
To not only see a
new animal for the first time but to also see them boning felt like quite an
accomplishment.

Some good YouTube quality footage was taken.
As for poker, it’s just been really nuts lately.
I didn’t play much in March – I lost a ton in
late February and it continued whenever I played in March.
It got me down for awhile and I generally
avoided playing, but am finally on a little bit of a heater and have made most
of the downswing money back.
I’m not really into throwing around actual figures because
talking about losing isn’t much fun, but it was probably about 25 buy-ins at
3/6 and 5/10 NL online.
My worst swing
ever.
It happens.
It was a
ton of bad luck, a ton of getting coolered, and that usually leads to bad play
and some tilt.
My biggest problem is not
quitting when I’m flat out not playing well.
Once I cross the -$5k threshold for a session, I can pretty much be
guaranteed to not play well.
I’ll play
weak in some spots, I’ll call out of frustration in others, and my mind will be
clouded with anger and I won’t have a clear though process.
It’s something I’ll need to be conscious of for the next
time it occurs, and I’ll need to have the will to make the proper
adjustment.
Much easier said then done.
These past couple months I’ve increased my aggression as
well.
I’ve been playing 22/18 and have
really started to punish limpers to the extreme.
It’s been working well lately.
For the 2nd edition of “How to Beat No-Limit Hold
‘Em 6-max Cash Games,” I am planning on adding information on 3-bet
percentages, which I am now using with Hold ‘Em Manager.
They are very helpful.
I also plan to write a chapter about more
aggressive preflop and postflop, which is more evident of my current style than
the tighter style I used to play and was the main emphasis for the book.
I’ll let you guys know when that’s near.
